Stanley Tabor (斯坦利·泰伯)
In 1975, before he was even old enough to obtain a driver’s license, Stanley Tabor dedicated himself to studying Chinese martial arts. Spending hours each day on Boston’s transportation system, he traveled over thirty miles to the New England China Martial Arts Association, where he studied under Chen Pei (陳培) and Chen Zhíguāng (陈植光).
By 1986, he had tested to become a certified instructor and began sharing his knowledge and passion for Kung Fu with his own students. The following year, he expanded his training and began studying Plum Blossom Mantis Boxing with Master Zhang Bingdou (张炳斗).
While in China in 1999, he met many martial artists, most importantly: Sun Deyao (孙德尧) and Sun Delong (孙德龙) of the Hao Family System (郝家门), and Liu Chengde 刘成德 of Hong Taijiquan (洪传陈式太极拳). In 2006, he began studying the Hao Family Taiji Plum Blossom Mantis system under Master Sun Deyao, which led to his acceptance as a formal disciple in 2007.
Today, he educates others in Mantis Boxing and Hong Taijiquan at his New England academy set on a three-acre wooded lot with bamboo groves, koi pond, and indoor/outdoor training areas. Sharing five decades of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to his craft, he preserves these traditions by passing them on to a new generation.
He operates the Life Skill Martial Arts school in Millbury Massachusetts. Click here to view on Facebook.
